No: there is no app in any store and no sign-up, guests upload from the browser that is already on their phone, and the only thing they type is a first name the first time.
That is the reason far more guests take part than with a shared album that asks for an account. The grandparents, the colleague who refuses to install anything and the guest whose phone is full all get to the same page by pointing the camera at the QR code.
Nothing is downloaded by the host either: creating an event takes an event name and an email address, and the dashboard is a web page you open with a one-time code sent to that address.
What a guest needs is a phone with a camera roll and an internet connection. The upload page has no camera of its own: guests shoot with the phone's camera as usual and pick the photos from the camera roll, or take one on the spot when the phone's picker offers it.
