How many photos do guests upload at an event?
A typical event gets about 130 photos and videos, and the middle half of events get roughly 65–210. About 9 guests upload, around 14 files each. And the uploads keep coming for days: about 6 in 10 files arrive after the first day. These are rounded figures from real events on Eventphoto.io.

What it costs
- Free: 20 photos per guest, kept 14 days from when you create the event
- Paid: $19.99 (£15.99 in the UK) per event for unlimited photos and videos per guest, kept up to 12 months
- One-time payment. No subscription and no fee per guest.
How many photos and videos does a typical event get?
The median event gets about 130 photos and videos: half of the events we counted get more, half get fewer. The middle half, leaving out the quietest quarter and the busiest quarter, get roughly 65–210. A few big events get far more than that. That is why we give the median and not the average: one huge party pulls an average up and makes an ordinary event look thin.
Most of it is photos: about one file in 14 is a video. And if your event comes in below the median, nothing is wrong. A small family dinner and a big wedding are both in these figures.
How many guests upload, and how many files each?
At a typical event about 9 guests upload at least one photo or video, and a typical guest who uploads sends about 14. That is fewer people than on the guest list, and that is normal. Some guests never take their phone out. Couples and families often let one person upload for both. And a few keen guests send far more than everyone else.
The surest way to get more guests uploading is to ask more than once: on the invitation or website, on the tables, and the morning after. What to say: how to ask guests to share their photos.
How long do the uploads keep coming?
For days. Within a day of the first upload, about 4 in 10 files are in. Within three days it is about 7 in 10, and within a week about 8 in 10. So more than half of the photos come in after the party, once guests are home, go through their camera roll and remember the link.
That is why one reminder is not enough: send one the next morning and another a few days later. Guests can upload until the event expires; how long that is on each plan: how long guests have to upload.
How did we measure this?
We counted the uploads in our own records on October 31, 2026: for each event, how many photos and videos came in, from how many guests, and when. Some events are left out: our own test events, events with fewer than 5 uploads, and events whose first upload was less than a week before we measured, because they were still filling up.
Nobody looked at a photo. The count uses only the file type and the upload time, and no guest, host or event is named. Every figure is a median or a range, and every one is rounded.
What do these numbers not tell you?
- What your event will get. Weddings, birthdays, christenings and company parties are all in the same figures, and we do not split them by occasion or by country. Your guest list and how often you ask matter more than any median.
- What guests took. We only see what was uploaded, not what stayed on people’s phones.
- Events that are gone. We can only count the events still on Eventphoto.io on the day we measured. A free event expires 14 days after it is created and is then deleted, so these figures mostly describe events whose gallery was kept.
- Exact people. An uploading guest is one phone browser. A guest who uploads from two phones counts twice, a couple sharing one phone counts once, and a guest who never uploads is not counted at all.
Questions about these numbers
Is my event getting a normal number of photos?
Most likely, if it is anywhere near 65–210 photos and videos: that is the middle half of the events we counted. Fewer usually means fewer guests were asked, not that something went wrong. And give it time: about 6 in 10 files arrive after the first day.
Why do some events get very few photos?
Mostly because guests did not know where to upload. One sign by the door gets missed. A QR code on every table, a mention in a speech and a message the next morning are what fill a gallery. And a small event simply has fewer phones in the room.
Do guests upload after the event?
Yes, a lot of them: about 6 in 10 files arrive after the first day, and about 2 in 10 only after the first week. A reminder the next morning and another a few days later both bring in more photos.
Do guests upload videos too?
Some do: about one file in 14 is a video. Videos need the paid plan; on the free plan each guest can upload up to 20 photos and no videos.
Why don’t you say how many events you have?
Because those are business figures, and they do not help you plan your event. We publish what a typical event looks like, rounded, so you can compare your own with it. We do not publish totals, sales or a split by country.
