Choosing the right setup for your occasion
The mechanics never change: one QR code, guests upload from the phone browser with no app and no login, and everything lands in one gallery. What changes is how long the party runs, who is on the guest list and whether you want video.
A child’s birthday or a baby shower is short and mostly stills, so the free plan often covers it. Milestone birthdays, quinceañeras, anniversaries and bar or bat mitzvahs run late, with speeches and a dance floor, which is when guests want to send video. At a christening or a family reunion, think of the oldest guests: pointing a camera at a code is easier than joining a shared album. At a company event, nobody should need an account.
Free gives you up to 20 photos per guest, photos only, 14 days of storage, no card and no cap on how many guests upload. Paid is $19.99 (£15.99 in the UK) once per event — no subscription — for unlimited photos and videos per guest, videos up to 200 MB, 12 months of storage from the upgrade, the digital guest book and the printable QR sign designer. Start free if stills are enough; you can upgrade the same event later.
Questions hosts ask before any occasion
Does it work the same for every kind of event?
Yes. A birthday, a christening and a company party all run the same way: you create the event, put its QR code where guests will see it, and guests upload from the phone browser without an app or an account. Everything lands in one gallery, and the private host link downloads it all as one ZIP. The guides above only differ in the advice around it.
Is it free for a small party?
Usually, yes. The free plan gives up to 20 photos per guest, photos only, 14 days of storage, no card and no cap on how many guests upload. If you want video or more photos per guest, you can upgrade the same event to the paid plan for $19.99 (£15.99 in the UK) instead of starting over.
Can guests upload videos?
On the paid plan. Guests send videos through the same QR code as their photos, up to 200 MB per file, straight from the phone. The free plan takes photos only.
How long are the photos kept?
A free event stays up for 14 days from the day you create it and is then deleted with its files, so create it close to the date and download before it ends. A paid event stays up for 12 months from the day you upgrade.
